FL Trip Pix and Others

Frenchy's in FL.  It's a must when we visit to eat here!  Our friend Linda drove up from Naples to see us and stayed with us a couple of nights.

Outside of Frenchy's on Clearwater Beach.  We braved the spring breakers!!!

We took the kids to the park down on Clearwater Bch afterwards

Happy Fourth of July!!!!!!

Linda and her boys arrived Tuesday night and are here for the week.  We started off our 4th with picking up Pappy and heading to Honeymoon Island.  Also our last time at the beach before we move most likely!

We did some sparklers.  Ryan's first time!  We had a BBQ at our house with cheeseburgers, brats, potato salad, corn on the cob, and ice cream with fresh blueberries and strawberries on top (like the red, white, and blue dessert?)

Went down to Dave and Michelle's house and sat on the dock and watched the City of Clearwater's fireworks show.  Surprisingly, Ryan was the one that was frightened and sat inside watching Dora.  Hunter, on the other hand, sat on Daddy's lap for an hour straight saying "WOW!".

We are enjoying our time with Linda and her boys.  It's also interesting to observe her boys, who are 2 years apart like Ry and Hunter, but ages 11 and 13. Five things I've learned:
1.  They still like to roughhouse and wrestle.
2.  Mom still has to repeat herself over and over because the boys get distracted and have a hard time listening.
3.  They still have to pratice instant obedience.
4.  They still love to cuddle and are still mama's boys.
5.  They are great babysitters for Ryan and keep him totally occupied and entertained.

They really are wonderful boys and Linda and her husband are doing a fantastic job of raising them. :)

Live, Laugh, Love

Last week, like most weeks around the Brewner house, was eventful and definitely not boring. God keeps life interesting. J Some of our week I already posted so I will start where I left off.
Thursday I was on Facebook (a little too long!). I try to steer away from it 90% of the time because it is such a time waster, in my opinion, but that day, it sucked me in. Unfortunately, I found out that a friend of ours just found out his cancer has returned for a third time. He has two tumors in his brain, one operable, the other one not. The second one the doctors will try to zap with radiation. He is 32, has a wife, and three young children. Him and his family are filled with faith, but have really endured some major trials over the last year. Please, please keep them in prayer. Then I saw that some old Marine Corps friends of ours from our California days had some bad news, as well. Her husband was just diagnosed with leukemia. They have a brand new baby girl, too. So sad. The Marine Corps is holding a bone marrow donor drive for him this month. Sean and I have been talking, praying, and researching how we can help and I think Sean has decided to put himself on the registry to see if he is a match for our friend. On the registry, though, it will see if he is a match for all of those waiting for a donor. Sean just has to see if it is OK to be a donor with his slipped discs in is back. Please also pray for this family and for my hubby and for guidance for him.

Last, but certainly not least, please pray for our family in Colorado Springs (Sean’s parents and siblings), who are experiencing the huge fires out there. Thankfully, they haven’t had to evacuate. Pray for all those who have had to, for lives lost, and for homes lost.

Friday, we took the boys to Honeymoon Island to have some much needed down time and beach time! The water was nice and refreshing, probably from Tropical Storm Debby. Friday evening we went to a baseball game at Bright House Fields – Clearwater Threshers played the Lakeland Tigers. The game benefitted veterans so there were lots of other activities going on and we really did have a good time.

This brings me to Saturday. I have officially put my two weeks’ notice in at my job and my last day will be July 15th. I can’t believe I only have 4 days of work left! I am sad to go and I will miss my coworkers, which have become good friends of mine, especially Miranda! She’s my work wife! Lol We spend 24 hours together in 2 days and now complete each other’s sentences and know what the other is saying or doing without having to say a word. What is really neat is I accidentally found a replacement for me. :0) A good friend from nursing school does not like her current job and called last week asking if maybe she would be considered for my job. I was so excited to give a good recommendation for her and she has an interview on Monday with my boss, who was sad to hear that I was leaving, but pretty happy to hear I had a candidate for him! God’s works are amazing and I hope it all works out for her and for my company.

Finally, also on Saturday, I received a text from Sean stating that Ryan had gotten into the Desitin diaper rash cream and had gotten it all in his eyes. Sean called Poison Control and was told to rinse Ry’s eyes with water for 10 minutes and that he should be fine without a visit to the ER. Ryan was fine, but still had red, watery eyes by the time I got home from work. What a stinker!

This coming week, we have friends coming to stay with us and it’s the fourth, sooooooo HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Here are some pictures from the baseball game........

Ryan's 3rd Birthday!

We celebrated Ryan's birthday on Friday, although his birthday was yesterday, April 29th, but I was working yesterday. This is Honeymoon Island.  We took him to the beach on Friday to kick off his birthday!

Hunter was a little unsure and unsteady on the sand!

Look at that face!!!!!!!

Ryan had a blast!  We rarely take the boys to the beach so we need to try to purpose to do so before we become landlocked in July!

He was not too interested in posing for Mommy!

We haven't done one of these classic shots in a long time!

Hunter had a lot of fun digging in the sand, too

Love the toes

Our view from our lunch table

Ryan didn't sit with us because he was cold after being in the water. He sat in the sun on the steps. Yes, I did say cold in 85 degree weather.  He is a Florida boy through and through.  What will he do in TN!?  Birthday hotdog!

And birthday chicken stolen from Hunter

Birthday cake.   It's a monster cake.  We have a children's birthday cake book and he looked through the whole thing and this is the one he wanted.  I LOVE it.  I thought for sure he would pick the firetruck or basketball, but nope.  It was super easy to make.

We had his party in the evening at Chuck E Cheez with some of the family who could attend.  We had a great time, enjoying pizza and cake and playing lots of games!

He blew and blew and blew those candles!!!

Hunter LOVED the cake.  Ry ended up eating one of the monsters' arms (a Blow Pop) and like none of the cake!

Pappy and Ryan have the same grin :)

First attempt at a family photo

Second attempt a little better

Present opening time

I can't believe he is 3 already!  It's gone so fast.  Thinking of those first few days and the joys of being a new parent and holding our first child for the first time.  Those little toes and little fingers.  And the new baby smell.  What a blessing and we are so grateful and thankful to God for giving him to us.  And so like yesterday when I was driving to work I was thinking about his birth day and crying and now typing about it, I'm about to cry again!  Happy tears of course.  He has gone from a teeny tiny to a little man with his own personality.  It is so amazing to watch him grow and learn and develop.  I pray that he continues to grow strong and healthy and that he learns to love and obey God with all of his heart, soul, and strength.  I pray for his safety and for his love for others.  I pray for many (many, many, many) years of being with him.  OK, I am going to end here.  I don't want to smear my mascara!  Ryan Nicholas Brewner 04/29/09 7 lbs 12 oz 5:16 pm (and yes I called him from work at 5:16....maybe the start to a new tradition).  :)  MOMMY AND DADDY LOVE YOU!!!!!!
