Ry-Dini

I'm laying in bed with Hunter, nursing him, he's half sleeping, I'm half sleeping, and I'm trying to study for my NCLEX when I hear odd things on the monitor coming from Ryan's room (who's supposed to be napping).  I hear change jingling in his piggy bank and I'm thinking how does he have that?  He can't reach that from his crib.  Maybe I'm mistaken.  Maybe it's something else.  He can't be out of his crib.  He would be making more racket.  Then like 5 minutes or so go by and I hear him talking about his favorite (and mine) popup book "The Little Green Turtle".  I hear him say "elephant, famino (flamingo), tur (turtle), clouds, giraffe, rain".  Yes, all things in his book, most of which do indeed POPUP!  He loves that book, we love that book, that book has been taped back together because he doesn't always understand the concept of popup.  This book is not a nap time, crib time, nighttime kind of book for Mr. Ryan.  OK, I'm thinking, he does just like to recite things, maybe he is just thinking about the book.  I can't wonder anymore!  I have to go check on him and make sure he hasn't jumped ship or shall I say jumped crib.  He has only done so once before, before Hunter was born, and the loud thud he made when he hit the ground scared him enough that he hasn't done it again.  Yes, he is 2 and his crib does convert to a toddler bed, but honestly I'm not sure he is ready for it.  And yes I'm sure you're just thinking that I'm not ready for it.  This would mean he is a big boy and not my baby anymore, and you may be right. But really in truly I do think he would do all playing and no sleeping and when he finally did crash at midnight it would be in the middle of floor, on top of his toy box, in his closet, or something crazy like that.  So I tiptoe to his room and oh so quietly turn his doorknob and peek in and what do I see............... I see a little man standing in the middle of his room, so I open the door all the way, but I was super quiet so he hadn't heard me yet, but then all the sudden he turns around and his hands fly up in the air and he says "AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!".  I scared him!!!!  It was hilarious.  So any way, he wasn't in trouble of course and I told him it was nap time and he needed to stay in his crib and he said OK.  He played a while longer and finally fell asleep (in his crib).  BUT I have a feeling this is not the end of that.  Soooooooo, now I sit here wondering how we are going to keep him in a toddler bed sleeping at a decent hour.

Hey Hettie- You're not. Take it from me. Just wait until they BOTH are a little older and nap time is a conspiracy on their part. And then you will have more conspiracies and more and more.....after all-they are BROTHERS. :-)

i typed a big huge reply but it got deleted...anywho...you're fine to wait as long as you can and its safe. BUT I was afraid of this jump with Kenzie and she really handled it well. She put herself to bed half the time actually because she was happy she had a big girl bed. You never know!?

Nancy: Great times lay ahead :) xoxo

Becca: True. Ryan could surprise me. He usually does with new things. He adjusts well. He hasn't done it again so we will see.
