Thinking back, we have experienced 3 very different labor
and deliveries…..but all with the same result that we thank God for…..healthy
babies and healthy mama.
So, after the false alarm on Wednesday I did not want to
make another trip to the hospital just to be sent home. Thursday we had an OB appointment and were
scheduled for an ultrasound on Tuesday to make sure Andrew was doing well since
I was past my due date.
Thursday around 430 in the afternoon I started getting
contractions, but I thought it would be like some of the other days I had
experienced where I would get them for a few hours or so and then they would
gradually fade away. So, we ate dinner,
went to Wal-Mart for groceries, and got the boys in bed. By about 10 pm the contractions hadn’t subsided,
but weren’t timeable either. I told
Sean, just in case, that we should try to get some rest. Well, he fell asleep, but I couldn’t because
of the contractions persisting and getting stronger. I started timing them…..8
mins, 7 mins, then 5 mins apart. And
stronger. Unable to sleep. Trying to relax. Finally, at 2 am I woke Sean up and told him
we needed to go to the hospital. We got
showered and ready to go and waited on our friends (who are watching our boys) to
get to our house. That took a little
while because they got lost. lol We finally left the house around 4 am and
arrived at the hospital a little before 430.
I was checked and already at 6 cm!
They decided to move me from triage and into an L&D room. Within an hour I was fully dilated and ready
to push. I pushed about 6 times or so
and then got to meet or beautiful baby boy!
I was able to do it without any pain meds again even though it
definitely crossed my mind a few times….well many times!!! The pressure and ring of fire at the end was
pretty painful, too!!! I did receive a 2nd degree tear and was given
some Pitocin after the delivery because of some excess bleeding, but with
Hunter it was a 3rd degree tear so that’s better. We are still at the hospital and will be here
until Sunday. Both of the boys are sick
so they haven’t come to meet their brother.
I’ve been taking Motrin for the pain and relaxing with my hubby and new
son!
Andrew Joseph Brewner was born 653 in the morning on
9/7/12. 9 lbs and 6 oz. 21 ¾ in long.
Hunter and Andrew are EXACTLY 18 months apart to the day (3/7/11 and
9/7/12) J
We are so thankful to God for a healthy pregnancy, labor,
delivery, baby, and mama!
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His
lovingkindness is everlasting (Psalms 107:1).

Wow-this is a 180 compared to Ryan! I'm so glad that everything went well and that the birth wasn't a long, arduous process. I'm glad to see you blogging, etc. that means that you are feeling great and doing well....but of course, sleep deprived!
Love,
Hil
