I have been tagged!

1.) Have you started your Christmas shopping?
Nope.  I don't think we will do much this year.  Feeling like Christmas is about CHRIST, not presents.  Does that sound scroogey?

2.) Tell me about one of your special traditions.

We will start a new tradition this year.  We are going to a Christmas tree farm in Dade City to pick and cut down our own tree.  Christmas morning is spent at home and Dad comes over.  In the afternoon, we go to Grandma's.  Christmas Eve we go to church and to my uncle and aunt's for dinner.  We do many things in December, as well, to celebrate the season.  O, this was more than one tradition.  Oops.  Guess I'm not good at following directions.

3.) When do you put up your Tree?

Before Christmas Day

4.) Are you a Black Friday shopper?
Never done it.

5.) Do you Travel at Christmas or Stay home?
Yes.  This year we are going to Colorado, but will be home on the 23rd.

6.) What is your funniest Christmas memory?
HHHHMMMMMM, I have no idea.  I could probably pick my brain and think of something, but am feeling too lazy for that and would rather just answer the rest of the questions.  :)

7.) What is your favorite Christmas Movie of All time?
Elf, of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This toliet seat is ginormous!  Best line ever!

8.)Do you do your own Christmas Baking, what’s your favorite treat?
Haven't, but not opposed to it.

9.) Fake or Real Tree?
I HIGHLY DISLIKE fake trees!

10.) What day (as a Mom) does the actual panic set in to get it all done?
Do you have to be a mom to panic?  I haven't panicked this year, being a new mommy, but all the other years, not being a mommy, I panicked.  Usually around December 1st until January 1st.  No, no,usually Thanksgiving Eve until Jan 1.

11.) Are you still wrapping presents on Christmas Eve?
Sure.

12.) What is your favorite family fun time at Christmas?
I would have to say all of it!

13.) What Christmas craft do you like the best?

Decorating the tree and house.

14.) Christmas music?
I love our worship team's Christmas stuff.  It even makes me cry.  They started with it yesterday.....and yes, I cried.

15.) When do you plan to finish all your shopping?
The only positive gifts this year is a little something for Ry and Sean.  I already got my gift from Sean - a Coach diaper bag.  We will do stocking stuffers, too.  Our big Christmas gift is our $900 plane tickets to Colorado for 9 days!

Shower, Hat

At Michelle's baby shower.  The duck had officially been decapitated.  It was very tasty, I have to say. :)

Love, love, love Ry's winter hat.  Thanks Grammy.  :)

Ta-da!

Quack Quack!

I made a rubber ducky cake yesterday for my friend's baby shower today.  It is very special to me because her mom is very ill and in the hospital.  See, her mom was going to make the cake for her (her mom also made the cake for my friend's first birthday), but since she is in the hospital, obviously she cannot.  Michelle, my friend, was going to make it herself, but of course she is tired from all that is going on with her mother and she is prego, so I offered to make it.  I am sure I didn't even come close to doing as well as her mom would have done, but I did have fun doing it.  It looks funny!  I don't think ACE of Cakes or Cake Boss will be calling me anytime soon to join their cake making team, but it does look like a duck (sorta) and hopefully it tastes good.  Now, hopefully transport  of Mr. Duck to the shower goes smoothly!!!!!!!!

Here is the recipe if anyone wants to try it and if anyone does, tell me, I want pics!  :)

About Concordance™

1.
Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Grease bottoms and sides of 1 (8-inch) round cake pan, 1 (9-inch) round cake pan and 1 (10-oz) custard cup with shortening or cooking spray.
2.
Make cake mix as directed on box, using water, oil and eggs. Pour 2/3 cup batter into custard cup; pour 2 cups batter into each cake pan. Bake custard cup 20 to 25 minutes and cake pans 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes. Remove cakes from custard cup and pans; place rounded sides up on cooling racks. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
3.
Spoon frosting into large bowl. Stir in enough food color until desired yellow color. Using serrated knife, cut rounded top off 8-inch cake. Place 8-inch cake, cut side down, on serving plate; spread 1/2 cup frosting over top. Place 9-inch cake, rounded side up, on frosted cake. To "crumb-coat" cake, spread thin layer of frosting over side and top of layered cake to seal in crumbs. Freeze cake 30 to 60 minutes.
4.
Reserve about 1/2 cup frosting. Frost side and top of cake with remaining frosting. Place custard cup cake, rounded side up, 1 inch from edge of layered cake for head. Directly opposite head, place 2 orange candies, side by side, for tail shape. Frost head and candy tail with reserved frosting.
5.
Add nonpareil candies to head for eyes; add chocolate chips to center of eyes, attaching with small amount of frosting. Cut rounded side of remaining orange candy to within 1/4 inch of flat side. Using sugared fingers, press cut halves of candy to make them thin to form upper and lower halves of beak. Push 2 toothpicks through beak and insert under eyes.

[Nenos_Award_icon_Emily_Marvelous_Recipes_10__14_09.jpg]I got an award! from Noelle over at Jumping Beans!  Thanks so much Noe!  You are such a sweetheart and made my day with your kinds words.  Check out her blog.  She always has cool giveaways and reviews and she always has something funny to say about life's little quirks.  AND she has a beautiful son and a hero for a hubby.  What a woman.

Well, I love to blog to keep family and friends updated on Ryan and Sean.......and me.  I used to blog a lot more, but got tired of blogging about myself all the time, so I have tried to make my blog less about me and more about my family and friends and the Lord.

Thanks again, Noelle.  Love ya!
