God's Perfect Timing

We had another winter storm coming yesterday and we had been praying and praying that my Dad would get here safely and on time and that him and Sean would be back to the house safely because we were expecting snow, sleet, and freezing rain (AKA ice).  Well, it all worked just like so.  His plane was on time, they got here safely, and then it started snowing, etc.  We had also prayed that Dad would get to see some snow falling because he hadn't in forever (Floridian!) and he did. 


Then, last night, I had to go in to work for a little bit and when I was coming home, I got stuck on our first hill to our neighborhood because the road was covered in ice.  I was a little scared sitting on the side of the hill, praying that I didn't start sliding down it because I would have no clue what to do.  Sean had to walk down to help me because he had already experienced barely getting the truck up the neighborhood a couple of hours earlier.  I was praying that he wouldn't hurt himself walking down, which he did fall a few times and hurt his elbow, but no serious injury.  And the funny thing was, as I was sitting there waiting for him, a neighbor drove by in his big 4 x 4 F350 Ford pickup and didn't even stop.  I was trying not to judge, but was kinda wondering why he didn't stop to help.  As Sean was walking down, however, he saw that neighbor over at another neighbor's house preparing to come down and get me.  He didn't stop originally because he felt he would probably slide down the hill if he stopped right in the middle of it.  Sooooo, I had Sean and two of the neighbors down there to rescue me at close to 10 o'clock at night.  The two neighbors were able to help push and guide the car as Sean gunned it up the hill and got it back to our house and then the neighbors drove me back up.  A little embarrassing, but so thankful that it all happened as it did.  All 3 of the guys said they had no idea how my car stayed in park on the side of the hill in the ice without sliding down.  God's protection!  God's timing!  Amazing!


Now, we are waiting for the ice to melt off our street so we can go out this afternoon!  :)

Andrew MRI Update

His MRI was scheduled for today to see if he has Chiari malformation.  Late yesterday we canceled it.  I was feeling uncomfortable about it because there are so many questions I have first before sedating the little guy for an hour and a half procedure.  The neurosurgeon would not see him without the MRI so I called our pediatrician yesterday.  She was able to schedule us for a consultation with a pediatric neurologist instead so we can get all of our questions answered, review the CT scan, and come up with a plan.  He can't be seen until May, but the pediatrician is OK with that and Sean and I are, too.  So we shall wait upon the Lord, as my friend Patti Votaw said!  :)


In other happenings, I noticed a red car parked in our cul-de-sac around midnight Sunday/Monday morning on  my way home from work.  I didn't think much of it because our neighbors always park up there.  Well, yesterday I noticed an elderly lady sitting in the car around 10:30 in the morning.  Sean said I should go see if she was OK, but I was a little creeped out by it so I waited for Sean to come home.  He asked her what was going on and she just said that somebody was after her and that she was waiting for someone to come and get her.  Well, we put two and two together and realized she had been sitting in her car for about 13 hours straight in front of our house.  We called the sheriff's department and they came out and questioned her and then took her to a hospital.  She said again that someone was trying to harm her and that she followed a Jeep up here (our neighbor) and that God told her to sit up here and wait.  The officers were able to contact her family and they should be by today to get her vehicle.  So yah, that was our excitement for yesterday!

Our neighbor went into a ditch here and her vehicle was at a 90 degree angle.  She was fine, thank goodness!

Day ?? Lost Count

Anyone sick of snow pictures yet!!???  lol God allowed us to get out on Sunday and attend church at Temple Baptist because our church was closed and then to the Creechs for lunch and fellowship, which was so nice!  Yesterday, Sean had school and we had to go down to Knoxville for Hunter and Andrew's ear tube checkups.  Hunter's went great!  Andrew not so much.  He has fluid behind both ears so we are doing the eardrops thing and have another appointment early Thursday morning to see if Dr. Graves can unclog the tubes. 

About 2 in the morning, the snow was back again!  This time I think we got another 2-3 inches on top of what we had that hadn't melted.  It snowed until close to 11 this morning.  I enjoyed watching it from the windows and getting out in it.  It's very soft and powdery and fluffy.  With a whole bunch of ice underneath that crunches (all from that first storm, I think).  Any way, this is easier to walk in.  The boys are starting to not be agreeable to all of our winter because it was really hard to walk in it yesterday without slipping and falling.  Today is the perfect day to make snow ice cream so that's where we are headed after nap time!

UT classes were canceled today and so I've had hubby home.  Nice.  This will also make for 3 and a half shifts I've missed at work.  Yikes.  No good.  The Lord knows our needs though so I rest in that.

Day 5

We got another 2 inches of snow through the night and into the morning!  Sean spent three hours getting our car out of the driveway yesterday so we could get to the grocery store.  They also came through yesterday and salted our street.  So we were stuck from Monday until yesterday, got our groceries, got home, and now we're stuck again after last night's snowfall.  We haven't had hot water since Thursday morning because our pipes have been frozen, but we have hot water again as of today!  No reason really except for the Lord is good because we didn't hit above freezing until later on today.  Now it's 35 and raining on the snow. 

Day 3

Well, we are still snowed in.  Since Monday.  But we haven't had to get out in it (which is good since we can't) and we've had power so we are nice and warm and safe and thanking the Lord.  We've been enjoying it.  It snowed from about 6 this morning until about 1 o'clock this afternoon.  We've probably gotten about 3 inches total since Monday.  Not a ton, but we will take it!  :)  It's all ice underneath the snow and it crunches and cracks when I step on it and my feet don't stick into the snow, they just stay right on top because of this ice.  A little different.  Next up......wind chill advisory and it's supposed to feel like up to -15 tonight with a high of 5. Tomorrow a high of 17 and a low of 3.  Brrr brrrr brrrr.  I'm supposed to work tomorrow and Sean is supposed to go to school, but we've still been stuck and our truck is still stuck in the driveway.  We will see!
