Sing, Spell, Read, and Write

Lord willing, we are going to continue homeschooling our children, which is exciting and a little bit overwhelming, too.  At 1 and up, we show them Veggie Tales and Leap Frog DVDs.  Usually at 3 years, we start Financial Peace Jr.  Then, at 4 we start violin lessons, Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons, and Sing, Spell, Read, and Write.  Well, Ryan and I are wrapping up all the curriculum with SSR&W, and I think it went really well for both of us.  It was a good price and the lessons were fun and kept Ryan's attention.  I would make copies of all the worksheets so that I can reuse them with the other children.  It also includes alphabet flash cards, learning to tie shoes, learning how to tell time, and stickers for when he accomplishes things, like knowing my phone number and his address.

We also teach them scripture memorization, hymns, and character qualities.  :)

By the end of this month, we are going to start the Abeka program for kindergarten, which is all on DVD.  We had planned to do ACE and Switched on Schoolhouse, but after a lunch with Kelly and Gil to discuss all our homeschooling questions, we decided to try something else.  We are also going to start doing the ATI Wisdom Booklets.  I have rearranged their schedules, too, because I think Ryan has to devote around 4 hours a day watching the Abeka DVDs.  Also, Sean and I were noticing that the kids get too much fun and too much entertainment time, so new schedules have more helping mommy around the house, doing school, learning about God time.  :)

What a blessing and an amazing journey to be a  mom to our four children!  Praise God!
